Three buildings in Frankfurt finished by Gerber

On Friday on the campus Riedberg the Goethe University in Frankfurt / Main, three new buildings were offices of the Dortmund Gerber Architects inaugurated. The buildings for the Otto-star center in the district of Kalbach and Biologicum emerged from a competitive success in the year 2006.

The Otto Stern Auditorium as a center building with library and cafeteria area is the center of the central campus Riedberg. A two-story foyer provides a high floor height difference in each one-storey development of the two bounding roads. The Lecture Center is the visible building mass significantly decreasing, a base area as a walkable space with large open staircase. It receives about daylight side garden courtyards. The glazed foyer marked as a distribution level for the joint above it, gilt and seemingly floating, with metal-clad building, which houses the central library.

The Laboratory for Biologicum is a top research university. For the Department of Life Sciences quality laboratories, offices are - and seminar rooms, a cafeteria and an animal house emerged. Comb-like building with a bar close to the highway adjacent to University buildings - the views of the Taunus still be experienced. Single storey Querbauten create small-scale Gartenhofsituationen. Glazed development zones and closed elements give the facade its rhythm.

The Cluster of Excellence Macromolecular Complexes, Institute is a building with high quality laboratories for the departments of physics, biochemistry, chemistry and pharmacy, life sciences and medicine. The new building is organized around a square courtyard garden and is ideal for communication and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas. The precast concrete frame, window straps with integrated sun protection structure the facade and balconies.
